Audience members at The Late Late Show got the ultimate surprise Thursday when James Corden didn't walk out on stage to begin his monologue. Instead, they got Justin Bieber.
As soon as bandleader Reggie Watts introduced Corden, the "Love Yourself" crooner appeared instead and immediately launched into a stand-up comedy routine. He tried his hand at some political commentary, joking that Hillary Clinton's favorite song is "Whatever Will Get You to Like Me." He also cracked a joke about Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer.
"Yesterday the CEO of Yahoo! gave birth to identical twins, and even they already have Gmail," he quipped.
But just as he was finishing warming up the crowd, Corden stormed on set in a bathrobe and a towel around his head.
"What is going on? I'm just getting in the bath. I've lit a scented candle and I hear the music playing. Clearly I'm not ready," a furious Corden said. "Reggie, why did you start the music?"
"You told me told me to play the music, and that's what we did," Watts explained. Apparently Watts had trouble telling the 21-year-old Canadian singer apart from the 37-year-old British host.

"James, you look exactly alike," Watts said. "How am I supposed to tell the difference?"
"Yes, I know we look almost identical," Corden quipped.
    "That's not true," Bieber interjected.
It almost seemed like Corden forgot Bieber was there for a second, but as soon as Bieber interjected with his comment, Corden remembered just how hilariously angry he was at the singer. Bieber apologized, but Corden wouldn't have it.
"Well, it's too late to say sorry," said Corden, referencing the Biebs' hit "Sorry."
"What do you mean?" Bieber asked, once again poking fun at another one of his tunes.
"Well, now you're just naming your own songs," Corden joked. "That's pathetic."
A downtrodden Bieber begged Corden to allow him to continue hosting the show, or at the very least let him roll the titles, but he wouldn't have it. After some "awwws" from the crowd, did Bieber finally get his way? Watch the funny clip above to find out!
